Surface Pro 4 is beyond doubt a stylish and powerful laptop and tablet that is worth considering, it comes with impressive graphics hardware and keyboard dock that offers a wide range of connectivity options and a battery

Design

Another factor that makes the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 worth considering is its design and build quality. It is made of magnesium alloy and measures 29.2cm x 20.1 cm x 0.8cm and weighs 786g and the keyboard weighs 292g, a total weight of over 1kg.

There is the iconic kickstand at the back that allows you to adjust it to almost any angle which makes it usable even without the keyboard attached. Another awesome feature is the Surface Pens docking mechanism, it uses a magnetic lock to hold the stylus in place on the tablets slim side.

Input Devices

The backlit keyboard is not bouncy but you get a feeling of a slight flex when you click the keys. The trackpad is quite big and is topped with glass that adds a smooth feel to it. Also, there is a Pro 4 Cover with Fingerprint ID feature wherein you will enroll your fingerprint and once done allows you to tap the sensors at the right of the touchpad to securely unlock the tablet. The Surface Pen works really well, its quite thick which allows you to conveniently grip it and allows you to be precise.

Display and Communication

The 12.3 inch PixelSense display has a 10-point capacitive touch with a 2736 x 1824 resolution and the pixel density delivers 267ppi that ensures clear and sharp images. The brightness levels and colors are superb, whites look clean and blacks are deep. The display is touchscreen which allows you to use it as a tablet without any accessories needed. The wireless connectivity is strong, it supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.0.

Ports

The Surface Pro 4 has a well thought of connectivity options. There is a single USB 3.0 port can be used for charging, a MiniDisplay Port that can be utilized to connect to a monitor and a 3.5mm jack for headphones. However, it is not ideal for those who work or stay all day at their desk, the lack of ports can be quite bothersome.

I’m impressed with the screen resolution. If we are going to talk about pixels, Microsoft went and boosted the Surface Pro’s resolution from 2,160 x 1,440 (216 ppi, or pixels per inch) in the old model to 2,736 x 1,824. That makes for a huge 267 ppi put forth by the Surface Pro 4.

I bought my Surface Pro 4 secondhand, but the screen is still good. More luminous and more color accurate than my previous Surface Pro 3 display at all brightness levels, as you can clearly see. The keyboard is fine and adds more stylish.

I like the superb palm detection and the accuracy and nuance of the Pen tracking and with Microsoft’s Pixel Sense display, the duo makes for the best stylus experience I’ve had on a tablet. I recommend this product.

I personally never found balancing a Surface device on my lap for typing any more awkward than with a traditional laptop, and the kickstand’s edge has been rounded out and for now I am just enjoying it.
