The Dell Latitude E7240 is a 12.5 inches business laptop that combines premium feature and fast performance. The Tri-metal chassis is MIL-STD-801G rated meaning it is styled to handle the kind of treatment a laptop gets in a professional’s bag. Designed largely in a black and charcoal with white highlights. Lid is matte-black and is highly resistant to fingerprints. The 12.5 inch screen has a matte surface to avoid reflected lights from windows. The Ultrabook measures 12.2 x 8.3 x 0.79 inches and weighs around 3lbs. making it surprisingly heavy for an Ultrabook its size.

 

Input Devices

The Keyboard has embedded number pad, large keys, a half-height FN key row and a full sized number row. The shortcuts on the arrow lets you activate the keyboard backlight and access screen brightness control and four brightness levels. The touchpad is highly sensitive and the physical buttons found beneath it are large and has an audible click when pressed. In addition, there is an HD webcam found above the screen and a fingerprint scanner at the bottom right corner of the wrist rest.

A circle of white light found around the power jack reminds you that the Ultrabook is charging. Also a set of lights on the back of the lid shows power status, battery charge status and disk activity when the Ultrabook is closed. Also, a white LED indicate that the Caps Lock is on, and the status icons can be found in the narrow bezel above the screen.

It features a high resolution multi-touch Gorilla Glass Display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and the IPS screen which delivers good viewing angles. Supports wireless connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac courtesy of Intel’s dual band AC 7260 chipset. It also features Intel wireless Display technology allowing external viewing on a WiDi-enabled projector or television. and mobile broadband (HSPA+) and Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

 

Connectivity

Connectivity options has been well thought of, you can connect your Latitude E7240 to a compatible conference-room equipment, camera,  smart phone, monitor, keyboard, printer, optical drive, hard drive and mouse. There is a Smart Card slot, three USB3 ports, an SD card reader, a headset jack, a docking port for connecting the E7240 to a workstation, a button to turn Wi-Fi on and off. It has a Gigabit Ethernet port and an HDMI output.

    It has a fast SSD and CPU. No issues so far, I am using it for almost a year now.

    Both touchscreen and digitizer pen were included. When you use pen the screen ignores your hands so you can rest your hand on the screen.

    Not sure why it has a less storage capacity, but probably you can just upgrade your HDD. I will just consult with my IT friend to see if he can do something about this.

    Me and my team decided to get the Dell Latitude E7240, it has all the specs we need. Intel Core 4th Generation i5 4310U Processor (2.0GHz, 3M Cache) along with Windows 8.1 Pro. That’s a better score than Toshiba Laptop.

    Well I don’t give a *** if its a bit heavy, I am after for this 12-inch touchscreen Gorilla Glass display is as sweetly responsive as its touchpad. Its native resolution of 1920×1080 is great for movies.. Perfect gadget for me.
